Home Series: Guest Room/Dressing Room

I haven't blogged about our house in a hot minute, so I wanted to start with a room that recently got a little makeover — our guest room! We (okay, I) primarily use this room as a dressing room/closet, and occasionally for guests when they stay over. The room is on the small side, so having a big, permanent bed in here really didn't make sense — so we opted for a stylish daybed that doubles as a comfy place to sleep when we have guests. I use this room daily to get ready, and store my clothes (and shoes...lotsa shoes!) in this closet as well. It's totally multi-purpose and we love being able to accommodate friends and family, too!

When we first moved in, I painted this room peach and I loooved it. As we renovated the rest of the house, the style and decor in this room wasn't matching the overall feel we were creating, so it was time for a bit of a facelift. I wanted to keep the feminine feel of this space, but give it a beachy vibe with a bit of an edge. It gets great light, so this makeover just enhanced the space as a relaxing retreat. The guest room isn't a big focus for us, but I do spend a lot of time here, so I looked for low-cost upgrades that provided big payoff. We painted the walls and upgraded the decor, curtains, and accessories — the daybed was the only big-ticket item we purchased, which felt okay knowing we can continue to use it for years to come. The other furniture in the room was handed down to us by Jim's parents, which we painted white when we first moved in — it still serves its purpose so we didn't replace it. The Prada sign was also a keeper, since I DIY-ed it a while back and I still love it. I'll tag all the sources of the other pieces at the end of this post if there's anything you're interested in! Let's hop to it...

I wanted to infuse a subtle rock vibe to the room, so I added these framed photos of Stevie and Bob along with the Tom Waits quote print below. I ordered it through Trodel — be sure to check out their very well-curated shop! The neon Buddha tassel was a gift from Bali from my sister in law, I have it hanging near the door to bring good vibes ;) The lucite table/stand is from House of Plastics in downtown Cleveland, and I've had it since my first apartment. Somehow it just works its way around the house, and I really like it in its new spot.

This gorgeous ceramic ring dish is from Clear Blur Design — it's delicately hand shaped and painted with blue marbled strokes and a gold rim. I'm obsessed with all of their work and love seeing this piece every day on my vanity! Most of my makeup/jewelry is in the drawers, but I like having my daily go-tos right where I can see them. The gold/glass makeup organizer is from Target, and my brush holder is from The Container Store.

I'm super happy with the way the room evolved — it fits the vibe of our house but still has its own personality. I spend a lot of time lounging on this daybed, and Cooper loves it too (clearly). Here are the sources/tags below, if there's anything I missed, feel free to leave me a comment or shoot me an email! Hope you enjoyed the tour!
